Pro-Palestinian activists in Belgium damaged military aid to Ukraine, believing it was for Israel, – media

In the Belgian city of Tournai, about 150 Palestinian supporters broke into and damaged the warehouses of the Belgian company OIP Land Systems, which produces military equipment for Ukraine. The activists mistakenly thought the aid was intended for Israel.

As Censor.NET reports , this is reported by the Belgian  7sur7 and the Israeli publication  Israel Hayom .

Thus, more than 100 pro-Palestinian activists, dressed in white overalls and with masks on their faces, broke into the company’s premises, causing damage worth about a million euros.

Their action was part of the “Stop Arming Israel” campaign, in which they demand compliance with the military embargo on Israel and the imposition of sanctions against the country by Belgium.

According to the company’s CEO, Freddy Versluijs, the protesters, armed with hammers and grinders, first entered the offices, where they smashed computers. They then headed to the hangars, where they severely damaged several vehicles.

He added that this vandalism will delay the next delivery of aid to Ukraine from OIP Land Systems for at least a month.

Versluijs said he was going to file a complaint against the activists.

On 23 June, approximately 150 pro-Palestinian activists broke into the company’s warehouse in the Belgian Tournai and vandalized an armored vehicle… which was intended for Ukraine.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company has already supplied the Ukrainian army with about 260 armored vehicles.

As noted, the company was targeted by pro-Palestinian protesters because it is owned by Elbit Systems, a large Israeli defense corporation.

Palestinian protesters believe that Elbit supplies 85% of the drones and most of the ground military equipment used by the IDF.

The CEO of OIP Land Systems added that his company has not produced defense systems for Israel for over 20 years.
