Currently, 99% of votes have been counted in Romania.

Bucharest Mayor Nicosor Dan is leading in Romania’s presidential election, with 99% of votes counted, the BBC reports .

It is noted that, according to partial results, 11.64 million Romanians took part in the second round of voting. Including 1.64 million outside Romania and slightly less than 10 million in Romania itself.

With 99% of votes counted in Romania, Dan has won 54.79% of the vote, while nationalist candidate George Simion has 45.21%.

Journalists added that there are still about a million votes to be counted outside Romania, and while Simion is ahead, there is no chance he will be able to close the gap between himself and Dan. The liberal mayor has an overall lead of 898,000 votes.

  1. I told you after the first round that Romania is not yet lost. Another bad bet by putler.

  2. The official count now has Dan leading Simon by more than the number of votes still left to be tallied. It’s over. putler, Orbán and trumpkov lose; pro-EU centrists hold the line in Romania.

(The above article says “while Simion is ahead”; maybe it means in the count of the outstanding votes?
