Ukraine will implement land reform by the end of the year to create a 40 million hectare land market starting from 2020.
“This year, we will definitely carry out a land reform which next year will allow us creating a 40 million hectares land market. It will be one of the highest quality in the world,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said at the Ukraine-Turkey Business Forum in Istanbul, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The President added that some Turkish companies already owned the land in Ukraine and expressed the hope that the number of such companies would grow.
“This especially concerns southern Ukraine, where there is a need to install and maintain reclamation systems. We are also looking for opportunities for public-private partnerships,” the Head of State said.

Hope it works out well. Maybe an opportunity for modest private investors as well as big business? Best not to let the Turks or chicoms get too much of a foothold though.
Land reform—lifting the moratorium on agriculture land sales—is the most powerful measure the government can take to boost economic growth and job creation, particularly in rural areas.
Caution on who the purchasers are is required. Enviornmental ethics is required. You don’t want a foreign company dumping chemical fertilizers on to get huge crops in the short term, but that in the longer term, kill the soil.
