President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had asked the United States and the European Union to impose sanctions on the Kremlin and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin before the full-scale invasion. However, they refused, notes Zelenskyy in an interview with Central Asian media.
“I asked President Biden (President of the USA) and the European Union to impose sanctions on the Kremlin, Putin, his entourage, and Russia’s energy sector before the invasion, so he would know it would hurt. So their people would know it would hurt economically,” the head of state said.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s requests were ignored, and the USA and EU refused to impose sanctions.
“Everyone said no: the Russians should make the first move, and then we will respond accordingly. And what was the result? Massive human losses, irreparable. I think it’s a catastrophe. I feel like we are sitting in ruins. People killed, lives destroyed, suffering,” the president declared.
Sanctions against Russia
It should be noted that the European Union has already imposed 13 packages of sanctions against Russia. Brussels is currently working on the 14th package. According to the media, the new sanctions list will include 21 more Russian companies and 19 more Russians.
The Financial Times reports that the EU will also tighten sanctions against Belarus. Brussels aims to close loopholes for Russia to restrict the import of luxury cars and goods.

We; that is to say the entire civilized world, owe Zel and his people a massive apology. Especially the Budapest signatories for not upholding the terms and the (then) pro-Russian Franco-German alliance that tried so hard to a) keep Ukraine out of Nato and b) to buy as many energy products as possible from Russia. In particular, Germany (Merkel : “there is no military solution”*) became Russia’s biggest trade partner by a long way.
When putler ordered that Ukraine never was to join NATO, the correct response should have been :
“Ukraine joins Nato immediately. You have given us no choice.”
Instead Ukraine, which had already suffered 8 years of death and misery, was forced to fend off a genocidal attack all alone.
Once it became known to the Budapest signatories that putler intended the total subjugation of Ukraine, Biden should have said to Boris:
“I’m sending three divisions. Could you send one and also assist with the NFZ?
That would have taken 3-4 months to set up and we would now be living in a much more stable world.
The refusal even to impose massive sanctions was an utter disgrace.
The head of the British Chamber of Trade and Commerce in Kyiv in 2014 posted on their website (this is purely from memory, so cannot be quoted as fact) words to the effect:
“All trade, travel, diplomatic and cultural relations between Russia, the EU and North America must come to a complete halt.”
If that had been expedited, the cauldron of devilry would have gone down the shitter in less than three years.
*in 2014, numerous people said “there is no military solution; including Obama, Merkel, Ban Ki Moon and assorted other wankers, while putler proceeded to impose one!
Appalling.
Even after more than two years of terrible war, the West still hasn’t found even a lousy, tiny kernel of courage. This will forever leave a dark black mark on the free world.
Then they wonder why China is now thumping it’s chest. What ever happened to China is our number one priority? It seems that was just an excuse not to aid Ukraine.
China is not capable of taking Taiwan. It’s an island far away from mainland China. China will not be able to land sufficient troops in Taiwan to take it over. It’s just bullshit, like Putin’s aims.
I know, I was mainly pointing out the invisible response to the Chinese grandstanding from the US.
Looking from the chink point of view, I would also start strutting around with confidence. The West is weak and will continue being weak, at least for as long as we have only marshmallows, cotton candy, and jellyfish in all the high places. And the chinks see it this way too (and the rest of the shitholes in this world).
