Powerful Explosions By Refinery in Ryazan, russia

15.11.2025

On the night of November 15, powerful explosions were heard in Ryazan, Russia. Local residents complained about a massive drone attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery.

While Ryazan’s publicists were brazenly reporting that “the bulk of the targets had been repulsed,” the city’s residents were counting the arrivals and admiring the glow from the fire near an important enterprise for Russia. The independent Russian publication ASTRA, in particular, wrote about the attack.

What is known

The news that unknown benevolent drones had visited Ryazan was reported in local Telegram channels at around 3:30 a.m. Kyiv time.

“The region has been subjected to a massive UAV raid. Air defense and suppression systems are working,” one of the publicists said.

After 5 a.m., the same channel reported “single drones” in the sky over the Ryazan region.

“One UAV flying over Ryazan was lost from radar and, presumably, passed through in transit. Only a few UAVs remained over the region, the bulk of the targets were repelled. The alert mode will remain in place until approximately 7-8 am. Maintain precautions until the “Release” signal,” the message published at 05:15 Kyiv time stated.

On the occasion, the channel urged Russians not to collect drone wreckage as a keepsake and not to shoot video from the attack sites.

The Russians did not hear the last call: many videos appeared on the Internet, which recorded both attempts by Russian air defense to shoot down UAVs flying in the sky, and their “landing” in the area of the Ryazan Oil Refinery, as well as a fire that broke out on its territory.

“At night, UAVs attacked Ryazan. Local residents report that a local refinery was hit,” writes ASTRA.

On social networks, residents of Ryazan shared their observations: they counted at least 10 explosions.

The Russian Defense Ministry has traditionally “shot down” everything in its morning report. They reported on 25 “intercepted and destroyed” drones over the Ryazan region. In total, 64 UAVs were allegedly shot down.

The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, also wrote about “25 downed drones” this morning. However, unlike the Russian Defense Ministry and local Z-publics, who “repulsed” the attack, he was forced to admit to “a fire on the territory of one enterprise.” The cause, of course, was “fragments.”

“Due to falling debris, a fire broke out on the territory of one enterprise. According to preliminary information, there are no victims, material damage is being assessed. Emergency services are working on the scene,” the official wrote.

The Ryazan Oil Refinery is located in the Southern Industrial Complex in Ryazan. It belongs to the Ryazan Oil Refining Company, which is part of the Rosneft state corporation.

The declared maximum possible processing capacity of the refinery is 17-18 million tons of oil. Oil is processed mainly by catalytic cracking and visbreaking. In 2015 and 2016, the processing capacity was 16 and 15.35 million tons, respectively. According to a statement on Rosneft’s website, the plant is modernizing its facilities.

After the start of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, this enterprise has repeatedly become a target for Ukrainian drones. The Defense Forces plant was attacked on March 13 and May 1, 2024, as well as on January 23 and 26, August 2, September 5, and October 23, 2025.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, according to Reuters, the Saratov refinery has stopped working after attacks by Ukrainian drones. As a result of the attack on November 11, it suspended primary oil processing. Work may remain paralyzed until the end of the month.

  1. I wonder if all these governors claiming, “we downed everything and no damage was done”, are reporting the same to putler? Is he not curious as to why russian oil output has dropped by 35% in two months?
