A powerful explosion occurred at a plant of the German defense concern Rheinmetall in the province of Murcia in Spain, injuring people.

According to EFE , the explosion occurred on January 30 at around 4:20 p.m. local time in a warehouse at the plant where explosives were stored. The fire spread over an area of ​​about 2,000 square meters before it was extinguished.

The explosion injured six workers aged between 30 and 52. One of them, a 52-year-old man, suffered a head injury. Five of the injured were taken to hospital, and one was treated on the spot.

The causes of the explosion are currently being determined. The plant where the explosion occurred is part of a division of the German concern Rheinmetall Expal Munitions. It specializes in the production of artillery ammunition, mortar shells and medium-caliber shells, as well as detonators and rocket propulsion systems.
