‘Pouring Gasoline on the White House’: Republican Senator Attacks Biden Over Weapons for Ukraine

Cruz accused President Joe Biden of trying to “deliberately escalate” the war in Ukraine.

Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz has accused President Joe Biden of deliberately escalating the war between Russia and Ukraine before Donald Trump took office. According to Newsweek , Cruz criticized Biden’s decision to give Ukraine the “green light” to use American ATACMS missiles to strike Russia, as well as to supply Kyiv with anti-personnel mines.

Cruz noted that both decisions were made after Trump won the election, which suggests that Biden was trying to “deliberately escalate” the war.

“In the entire course of this war, Joe Biden and [Vice President] Kamala Harris have not signed on to any of these steps so far. Before the election, they were reluctant to act, fearing the responsibility for any escalation that might follow. They didn’t give the green light. But after the election, when they’re leaving, it’s like they’re standing around pouring gasoline around the White House, looking for a match. So they’re really trying to set everything on fire,” the senator said.

Cruz said he was on the plane with Trump when news broke that Biden had approved Ukraine’s use of ATACMS missiles against Russia.

“We were watching the news on TV about the Biden administration and what they are doing to deliberately escalate the war with Russia. I have to say, everyone on the plane was shaking their heads and saying, ‘They are trying to start World War III.’ That’s right, they are deliberately trying to make things worse.”

Cruz added that he believes the war between Ukraine and Russia will end next year with Russia’s defeat after “some kind of negotiated settlement.”

      • The UK went from 3.5m soldiers in the 1950’s, to 100,000 now, including marines, which belong to the navy. Plus there are c.40,000 reserves.
Back then we had the third biggest navy in the world and the RAF was way up there too. We spent 10% of GDP on the military. Thanks to the socialist welfare state and colonial guilt, we’re down to 2.3%; albeit it’s still more than any European power except Poland and Ukraine.
We need to move to 5% of GDP right now, but we’re stuck with socialists for four years.
Our level of support for Ukraine is third behind Germany. I expect it will continue that way, but really it needs to triple.
Quite a bit of the putinaZi stash of c.$300 billion is in the UK. We need to send it to Ukraine before Trump takes over.

        • What ‘Colonial guilt’? Without Britain and Portugal the world would be a Planet of the Apes. No pain no gain! Just look at Israel!

          • It’s a Labour thing. They want to pay reparations for slavery.
IMO when you look at the history of slavery, you need to see whose fault it was. That would be the entire world and the African village headmen who rounded slaves up and sold them to Arab traders, who then sold them on to the colonial powers.
Then you need to see what was the first country to end slavery. That would be Britain; thanks to a Tory MP named William Wilberforce. The RN enforced it on the high seas too; interdicting slave ships and freeing the slaves.
Africans and Arabs carried on as usual. Even to this day. So we should go after those fuckers first.
Then of course we have the communist; now more recently fascist bloc; AKA the axis of evil, which still enslaves millions.

            • I recall Tony Blair claiming that UK scholars should learn about tolerance instead of the Empire. Playing the guilty card while i was living in Holland. Never anybody mentioned ruSSia’s and china’s nazism and their concentration camps to this day. It’s exclusively US who are the ‘bad guys’.

            • This overblown guilt thing is just like wind in the sails of extremist ships, sailing all over Europe. It’s part of the wokeness that’s helping trash like maga, AfD, Le Pen, Orb-anus, and other fascists and communists gain points with the electorates.
