Poroshenko called for unity of all democratic forces

The Fifth President, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the congress of the UDAR party, called on all democratic forces to unite around the defense of Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko thanked Vitali Klitschko for the invitation and emphasized that unity for the sake of the state was important both in 2014 and now.

“In 2014, we found a way to unite victoriously. When the “kvartalovtsy”, these “new faces” after the Revolution of Dignity, having packed their “disturbing suitcases”, quietly “went into the forest”, our political forces united and took responsibility for how to defend the country, how to prevent its disappearance. Ensure economic growth, reforms and lead the country to the EU and NATO. And Poroshenko, and Klitschko, and European Solidarity, and Udar, and millions of our compatriots have chosen this path and are confidently moving along it,” Poroshenko says.

“And if now the whole world has united, if under the leadership of our partners we have united, why is Ukraine not united inside and why is the Ukrainian government preventing this unification? We are expected to strengthen the state,” emphasizes Petro Poroshenko.

“Then, when we extend our hand to the authorities for cooperation – and European Solidarity, and UDAR, and Golos, and others – they immediately try to put handcuffs on this hand. This is their understanding of unity,” Petro Poroshenko notes.

“Now the key priority should be to maintain security. And that is why our faction, together with our partners in the democratic coalition, insists on an extraordinary meeting of parliament in order to make the necessary changes to the budget and sharply increase funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine – with regard to increasing financial support, supporting territorial communities, including Kiev for financial support and joint financing of territorial defense. As well as an increase in the State Defense Order, and the creation of strategic reserves, and cooperation with international partners. For this is the shortest path to peace. This is how we can keep the peace without letting Putin attack,” Poroshenko stressed.

He also thanked the UDAR party for the strong support of the territorial defense in Kiev. “A very timely initiative. And “European Solidarity” side by side. Together we strengthen the ability to defend ourselves,” says Petro Poroshenko.

“I want to thank the deputies of the Kyiv City Council for the fact that together “European Solidarity”, “UDAR”, “Voice”, and other political forces decided to protect democratic values. A very timely and correct initiative. The city council spoke out against Zelensky’s authoritarian ways, against selective justice, against politically motivated persecution of the opposition,” the party leader said.

“We are statesmen. And we understand that in the face of such an external threat, we all must calm our political ambitions, political passions, reduce the degree of internal political confrontation and unite to protect the state. We can do it. I believe in it. We are united and in solidarity in general assessments of the situation in Ukraine, in assessments of unprofessional, populist, chaotic, and now the whole country sees it as a criminal government,” Poroshenko said.

“We often talk with Vitaly on this topic. We see that we are like-minded even now, when there is a military alarm. We must demonstrate this unity in the future, too, so that Ukraine receives a responsible, professional, pro-Ukrainian government that is capable of responding to these challenges, both external and internal. Confidently lead the country on the path of reform. Confidently lead the country to the European Union, membership in NATO,” Poroshenko sums up.

  1. Unity is stability. Unity is prosperity. Unity is the spine of our defenses. Infighting in times like today is sabotage and treason. We all want the same, a united free and prosperous Ukraine. I want to thank Washington for their faith in us. Same goes for Canada, Poland, Lithuania, the UK, Czechia, Denmark, Sweden and Georgia! Thank you!

  2. This is vital for Ukraine.
Next, they must extirpate all organisations masquerading as political parties but actually working for the destruction of Ukraine: such as the so-called Opposition for Life bloc.
A country that is under constant attack from an evil fascist power simply cannot afford to have operatives of said power in parliament and free to peddle their poison.

  3. “Poroshenko called for unity of all democratic forces”

What are the true democratic forces these days? If a country lets down a democracy like Ukraine and supports a crime syndicate dictatorship like Russia, is it a democratic force?
It’s noble, what Poroshenko is calling out, but, I’m afraid, it’s very futile in the Europe of the 21st century.
