In Svyatogorsk, Donetsk region, two police officers were killed in the line of duty after coming under Russian shelling.

As noted, the car in which the law enforcement officers were traveling came under enemy fire. Roman Penkov, a senior precinct officer of police department No. 4 (Slovyansk) of the Kramatorsk Regional Police Unit, and Valentin Gavrish, a police driver of the local security police unit, were mortally wounded.
The attack reportedly took place at around 4:45 a.m. today. Police officers were on duty, ensuring law and order and public safety.

“Police Captain Roman Penkov is from the village of Raihorodok. As a police officer, he knew every inch of his native territory and was the first to come to the aid of people. The 41-year-old police officer is survived by his parents, wife, and seven-year-old daughter.
Senior police sergeant Valentyn Havrysh is forever 29 years old. He was born in Novoselivka in the Lyman region. He joined the National Police in 2019, and since September 2021 he has been working as a police driver of the response platoon of the Slavyansk city department of the Mariupol inter-district department of the Security Police Department in the Donetsk region. He was a loving son, brother, and husband.

“We bow our heads due to the irreparable loss. Deep condolences to the families and friends of the deceased,” the police said.
