Poland plans to build a wall on the border with Russia. This follows from the statement of the Minister of National Defense of Poland, Wojciech Skurkiewicz, who was quoted by the Polish news agency PAP.

“We are not building a wall on the Polish-Russian border, we just announced it,” Skurkevich said, answering journalists’ questions. He added that the plans to build the wall are part of the development concept of the Polish Border Guard.

Poland borders on the Kaliningrad region of Russia. The length of the land section of the border is 203.3 kilometers.

The head of the press service of the government of the Kaliningrad region, Dmitry Lyskov , told RIA Novosti that there is already a fence on the Russian-Polish border – from Russia. There is no fence on the Polish side, the Polish side plans to build one. We are talking about a fence, not a wall, Lyskov stressed.

In January 2022, Poland began building a fence on the border with Belarus. Its length will be 186 kilometers, height – more than five meters. The construction, which will cost PLN 644 million ($162 million), is scheduled to be completed in June.

Poland went to build a fence on the border with Belarus because of the migration crisis . Lithuania decided to build a similar fence .
