The most anticipated long-term construction project is accessible to cars and public transport.

In Kyiv, on Sunday, December 1, the Podolsk-Voskresensky bridge crossing was opened for traffic . Its construction began in 1993.

Four lanes are currently available for transport – two in the direction of the left bank and two in the direction of the right bank. New bus routes are already running on the bridge. At the same time, stops are equipped for public transport. Work is also underway to install ramps.

“There is already a drive along the main part from Troyeshchyna along the high-speed tram, which goes to the Podilskyi Bridge. This transport hub combines three types of transport – tram, bus, city train. By the end of the year, work will be carried out to improve accessibility so that this transfer hub is full-fledged and comfortable,” said Ruslan Kandybor, director of the Kyiv City State Administration’s transport infrastructure department, on the air of the Kyiv24 TV channel .

At the moment, only cars and public transport can use this bridge. Trucks will be launched only after a direct exit and exit are created, and then we can expect the metro to appear.

Construction of the Podolsk Bridge

The bridge in Kyiv across the Dnieper and Desenka rivers is supposed to connect Podil with the left-bank districts of Voskresenka and Raduzhny Massif. Its construction began in 1993, but was stopped almost immediately due to lack of funds.

The project was revisited 10 years later. According to the plan, it was supposed to be completed in 2008, but again there were problems with financing and construction was postponed again.

It is worth noting that the structure will consist of three bridges and connecting overpasses. The design capacity of the new Podolsko-Voskresensky bridge crossing will be 60 thousand cars per day. The upper tier was supposed to have six lanes for traffic – three in one direction, on the lower – two metro tracks with the stations “Sudnostroitelnaya”, “Trukhanov ostrov” and “Zaliv Desenka”.

On November 24, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko  announced the opening of the Podolsk-Voskresensky Bridge .

    • I have never seen this bridge. It’s rare that we ever went so far north to cross the river. More often than not we use the South bridge on the way to Boryspil. I hope it’s worth the wait.

      • You never saw it before? It was a rusting hulk for years. You have a good view of it by the Brotherhood arch or from the park area by St. Andrew’s Church, specifically, the Alley of Artists observation deck.

  1. Can’t say I’ve ever noticed it either, despite usually staying within sight of it!
