PM Shmyhal discusses financial, security assistance to Ukraine with US Congress members

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with representatives of the US Congress. Financial and security assistance, anti-corruption reform, and food security were discussed.

“Among the key topics of conversation: financial and security assistance, anti-corruption reform, restoration of Ukraine, and food security,” The Head of Government posted on Telegram.

He noted that the United States had provided Ukraine with nearly $19.3 billion in direct budget support since the beginning of the Russian invasion, including $6.6 billion disbursed this year.

According to him, the parties discussed further funding which helps pay pensions, aid to internally displaced persons, and salaries to doctors and teachers.

“We also appreciate the significant attention of the USA to the restoration of Ukraine. A $1.3 billion package was announced. I pointed out the rapid recovery priorities: energy, housing, critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining, support for small and medium-sized enterprises. We are grateful for $657 million for the modernization of critical infrastructure,” Shmyhal wrote.

  1. I’m in favor of more financial support as long as the turks won’t get a foothold in Ukraine. Zelensky’s planned islamization of Ukraine must be brought to a hold. Sometimes i don’t recognize Ukraine no more. Ukraine is the birthplace of orthodox christianity, not islam. To get infected with one disease to fight another is not a cure.

    • Untill now, I’ve been rather oblivious to Muslims in Ukraine other than the Crimean Tartars or different units serving in combat against ruscist genocide of Ukraine. Figures I’ve to run across range from 1-6% of the population with pre-occupation of Crimea and intensification of genocide, Crimean percentage was at 12%. Ukraine has/had 445 communities, 433 “ministers”, and 160 mosques. Not sure if Ukraine has any anti-sharia law ordinance(s) in the books but they may want them. Other than Islamic holidays being made national holidays, I haven’t seen a wide push to promote or cater to the minority.

    • I don’t see that happening, Mike, and I’ve never heard about this before. Maybe I’m blind or something, but compared to Western Europe, Ukraine is virtually completely free of Muslims. It seems that Cologne alone has more mosques there than all of Ukraine.
But, I agree that the turks should not get a foothold in Ukraine, nor any other Muslim country. My apologies to the free Chechens who are bravely fighting for Ukraine.
