With particular cruelty, torture was used against the officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Azov fighters.

The Ukrainian military released from the captivity of the Rashists spoke about the torture  and ill-treatment of the Russian occupiers.

Most of them were taken prisoner near Mariupol. At first, Ukrainian fighters were kept in basements and outbuildings, and then they were transferred to guardhouses, a pre-trial detention center in Donetsk, and correctional colony No. 120. Subsequently, the military was transferred to the pre-trial detention center in Taganrog and Voronezh.

The released prisoners said that during the transfer, they wrapped their eyes with tape, put a bag over their heads and tied their hands with ropes. In captivity, they were threatened with death, beaten and humiliated.

“With particular cruelty, torture was applied to the officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the fighters of the Azov special forces detachment. During interrogations, Ukrainian prisoners of war were put on their knees, beaten with a machine gun butt on their toes and open wounds, used pliers, threw a noose around their necks and choked In addition, they tortured me with electric current, beat me with a woman from Kiev and kicked me,” Denisova said. 

According to the servicemen, the Rashists injected them with unknown drugs starting with the letter “M”, after which they fainted and lost their memory.

The invaders also forced them to learn the poem “Forgive us, dear Russians”, the anthem of the Russian Federation, the history of the creation of the emblem and flag of the Russian Federation, otherwise they used torture and torture.

Women prisoners of war who were kept in the Donetsk pre-trial detention center said that there were at least 17-20 of them in cells designed for 2-3 people. They were deprived of hygiene products and the opportunity to wash themselves, and instead of a bathroom they were provided with a bucket.

Before their eyes, Ukrainian captive men were severely beaten, and the captives themselves were forced to have sexual intercourse.

According to Denisova, the wounded were not provided with vital medical care. The doctor examined them only before being transferred to the POW camp in Sevastopol, where assistance was provided by representatives of the ICRC.

In addition, the Ukrainians were not given water, only 1.5 liters for 30-40 people, and the daily diet was limited to a piece of bread and lard. Sometimes, when giving meat, the Rashists scoffed and said that it was “human”.

Also, the Ukrainian military was deprived of the opportunity to contact their relatives. The ICRC Central Tracing Agency’s family identification cards, which are required by article 70 of the 1949 Geneva Convention, to be sent immediately after capture, were filled out only immediately before the exchange.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian occupier was informed of the suspicion of torturing the inhabitants of a village in the Chernihiv region.
