Germany does not plan to transfer to Ukraine its Taurus aviation cruise missiles and American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, which are in service with its army.

This was stated by the country’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with the Financial Times  . According to him, even despite the recent wave of Russian air attacks and another request from Kyiv, Berlin will not transfer long-range missiles to the Ukrainian military.

Pistorius is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth soon. In Washington, they will discuss the “roadmap” of American support for Europe and the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.

The German minister reported that his country cannot transfer more Patriots to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as it has only six such complexes out of twelve – three have already been delivered to Ukraine, two have been “lent” to Poland, and another one is either undergoing maintenance or is being used for exercises:

“This is really too little, especially considering the NATO goals we have to achieve. We certainly cannot give more.”

At the same time, Pistorius plans to discuss with Hegseth his proposal from last month, which envisages that Germany could purchase two Patriot systems from the United States for Ukraine.

Ukraine is still waiting for Taurus missiles

As is known, former Chancellor Olaf Scholz was against sending these missiles to the Ukrainian army, as he feared that this could be perceived as a direct involvement of Germany in the war.

His successor, Friedrich Merz, has repeatedly said that Ukraine should receive these missiles to have a stronger position in the war. Despite these statements, Berlin has not announced a corresponding decision.

This year, Germany announced that it would no longer comment on this topic publicly, but it has continued to do so. In particular, Merz recently assured that the possibility of Taurus deliveries “was and remains” .

  1. It is easy to point fingers at individual countries for poor decisions but NATO has had 11 years to come up with a concrete plan to make Hitler 2.0 retreat back behind his own border. I’m no expert but I don’t see how Hitler 2.0 could attack Germany without going through Ukraine or NATO…

  2. Quite clearly, it was a mistake to keep Pistorius as minister of defense, since he is the driving force to keep Taurus away from Ukraine. Quite clearly, Merz is not the type of leader that Europe so desperately needs. Another weakling is at the helm in Germany.
The West keeps on stumbling through this war like a confused drunkard, even after three and a half years of war. They can thank their God that Ukraine is keeping the ghouls away from them.
