Speaker of the US House of Representatives (the lower house of Congress) Nancy Pelosi officially invited the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to speak at a joint session of both houses of Congress.

This is stated in Pelosi’s letter of invitation to Zelensky.

Pelosi emphasizes that America and the world are delighted with the heroism of the Ukrainian people.

“In the face of Putin’s terrible atrocities, Ukrainian freedom fighters inspired the world with their iron will and indomitable spirit in repelling Russia’s brutal, unjustified invasion,” the letter said.

“During this dark time, your courageous, patriotic, unwavering leadership has rallied not only your people, but the world to join the front lines of the fight for freedom,” Pelosi said.

She noted that America and its allies proudly responded to Zelenskyi’s call and are imposing devastating sanctions against Putin and providing Ukraine with the necessary resources to win the war.

“The fight for Ukraine is a fight for democracy as such. We look forward to hearing your inspiring message of unity, resilience and determination,” Pelosi’s letter said.

Zelensky’s visit to the USA

Zelensky will visit Washington today .

According to the press secretary of the president Serhiy Nikiforov, the meeting with Biden is planned to discuss cooperation between the two countries, in particular, strengthening the stability and defense capabilities of Ukraine, supporting its sovereignty and restoring territorial integrity.

The President of Ukraine will also deliver a speech at a joint session of the two houses of the US Congress and hold a number of bilateral meetings.

Zelensky will arrive at the White House at 21:00 Kyiv time to meet with Biden. At approximately 11:30 p.m., a joint press conference of the presidents of Ukraine and the United States should begin.
