The international community turned to PayPal CEO Dan Shulman with a request to open PayPal for Ukraine and close it for the aggressor country.
“We, the people of Ukraine, are asking US President Joe Biden and PayPal CEO Dan Shulman to open PayPal for Ukraine — this will allow us to support Ukrainians in protecting their freedom and sovereignty,” the petition addressed to Joe Biden says.

Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov said that there is already progress on this issue – the PayPal system is leaving Russia and will work in Ukraine.
“Welcome to Ukraine! Your presence will give more financial freedom to 40 million Ukrainians in this difficult time,” Fedorov said. “Defending the principles of democracy and peace is now possible only through joint efforts! Thanks to the United States and the entire international community for the continued support of Ukraine!”
Now the PayPal system only works for sending from Ukraine, in order to simplify transfers from abroad, the system needs to work fully.
For example, it is difficult for citizens of the United States or Europe to make a transfer – you need to understand account numbers, IBAN, and so on.
The system will greatly simplify the exchange of funds with Western users, which is very necessary now for both volunteers and people left without a livelihood.
DEATH TO THE RUSSIAN OCCUPANTS!

(C)UNIAN 2022

This is a very nice improvement for Ukraine but as I understand it, it will also need a change in legislation.
I think we need to set up a PayPal system here for our website too.
