In early September, Romania decided to transfer Patriot to Ukraine.

Ukraine has received a Patriot missile defense system donated by Romania . This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and confirmed by the Romanian Defense Ministry.

Thus, on the evening of October 2, Vladimir Zelensky thanked his allies on the X social network for their help in strengthening air defense.

“Special thanks to Romania for the Patriot systems. Together we can achieve even greater effectiveness – we can put an end to Russian terror by jointly destroying the Shaheds and missiles,” the president wrote.

Today, Romanian Defense Ministry spokesman Constantin Spinu also confirmed in a comment to Radio Liberty that the Patriot air defense system is already in Ukraine.

“We confirm that the Patriot system has arrived in Ukraine,” he said.

Patriot systems for Ukraine

In June, Romania said it would transfer one of its two operational Patriot systems to Ukraine on the condition that its allies replace it with a similar air defense system. In early September, the Romanian government approved the transfer of the Patriot to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

It was also reported that the Netherlands plans to transfer three Patriot anti-aircraft missile launchers to Ukraine very soon .
