11 freight train cars derailed in Kurgan Oblast, Russia, as reported by the press service of Russia’s South Ural Railway on Telegram on June 19.
The accident occurred at the Kargapillya station on the Kamensk-Uralsky–Kurgan line, according to reports. The railcars involved were reportedly empty. Recovery trains were dispatched to the scene, and no casualties were reported.
“Train traffic on the Kamensk-Uralsky–Kurgan section has been suspended for the duration of the recovery work. The causes of the accident are being established,” the statement read.
Russia’s Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office said it had launched an investigation into compliance with transportation safety laws and railway operations following the incident.
On June 14, the Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the freight load volume on Russian Railways (RZD) has been declining for 20 consecutive months. Approximately 300,000 empty cars — nearly 20% of the total fleet — are currently idle on the tracks.

It was not necessarily a strike by Ukrainians. The ruskie railway system has been in bad repair for a long time, and things certainly haven’t gotten any better since this illegal war was started. Lack of funds and sending personnel to die in Ukraine will leave their mark.
