One of the perpetrators of the murder of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov has been pardoned and sent to the front in Ukraine, TASS reports, citing Russian security officials.

We are talking about Temirlan Eskerkhanov, who, as the investigation believed, was spying on Nemtsov and indicated to the killers the most convenient place to kill the politician. In 2017, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

“In March 2024, Eskerkhanov signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense, was pardoned, and was then released from the colony. He went to one of the assault units and is now carrying out combat missions in the SVO zone,” the agency’s source said. Video of the day

It is claimed that the contract with Eskerkhanov was signed for a year. However, earlier Russian opposition media repeatedly noted that all contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry are de facto unlimited, since they are automatically extended as long as the war continues.

It is also reported that all the other accomplices in Nemtsov’s murder are still in prison, since they did not want to participate in the “SVO”.

Boris Nemtsov, a prominent Russian opposition figure and critic of Vladimir Putin’s regime, was killed on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. He was shot on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge near the Kremlin. Nemtsov had been vocal against corruption in Russia, the annexation of Crimea, and the war in Donbas.

Nemtsov’s murder caused a wide resonance both in Russia and abroad and was perceived as an attack on freedom of speech and political opposition in the country. Five people were convicted of carrying out the murder, but those who ordered the crime remained unknown, which led to doubts about the transparency of the investigation.
