Peaceful settlements of the region were attacked from artillery, MLRS, mortars and tanks.

During the day, the Russian invaders fired at the Kherson region 39 times , as a result, one person was killed, seven were injured, said Yaroslav Yanushevich, chairman of the Kherson regional military administration.

“The Russian occupiers shelled the territory of the region 39 times. The enemy attacked peaceful settlements from artillery, MLRS, mortars and tanks,” he said. 

According to the chairman of the OVA, the Russian army fired at Kherson 9 times – residential areas of the city were under attack by the enemy army.

In particular, the shells hit private and apartment buildings, as well as the territory and buildings of the fire and rescue unit.

“Over the past 24 hours, one rescuer was killed due to Russian shelling, seven residents of the region were injured of varying severity,” Yanushevich added.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, after a conversation with Turkish head Ercep Tayyip Erdogan, announced a  unilateral ceasefire .

However, in the Pentagon, as in Ukraine, Putin’s statement was called a “propaganda trick” because the Russian army continued to fire on civilians .

In addition, the Ukrainian authorities warned of possible provocations  by the Russians for the Christmas holidays.

December 24 – Catholic Christmas Eve – the invaders opened fire on the center of Kherson , dozens of people died and were injured.

Already on New Year’s Eve and the next day, Russia staged rocket terror and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, in particular, to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat on December 31.

The military has repeatedly emphasized that the Russians are acting on the principle of terrorists: they are trying to inflict maximum damage and losses among the civilian population on holidays .
