Odesa region restores connection with Moldova: from August 22, the “Bessarabiaska-Berezine” railway line, which has not operated for 25 years, will be operational

From August 22, they plan to put into operation the restored “Bessarabyaska – Berezino” railway line, which will connect Odesa region and Moldova.

This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrii Spinu.

On Monday, he will meet with the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov in the Moldovan city of Bessarabiaska to put the railway line into operation.

“At the end of June, I signed a Memorandum of Understanding with my Ukrainian colleague, the Minister of Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov, regarding the development of the Basarabyaska-Berezyno railway section,” he said.

According to Andrii Spinu, the 23-kilometer section of the line was subject to restoration. The work was carried out for two months. From September, this line will start operating for cargo transportation.

This section of the tracks was dismantled back in 1997. Negotiations on the restoration of the line have been ongoing since 2016.
