According to Kuleba, there is now reason to believe that there will be “good news” on Patriot, because there is no longer any need to look for these systems.

Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba claims that besides the Netherlands, there are other countries that have expressed their readiness to buy Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine .

“I’ll reveal a little diplomatic secret: the Netherlands is not the only state that is ready to buy a Patriot battery right now from any country in the world for the price that that country names,” the head of the Foreign Ministry said on air at the United News telethon.

According to him, now there is reason to believe that there will be “good news” on Patriot, because there is no longer any need to look for these systems. He said that even more than the 100 Patriot batteries that Ukraine had previously spoken about were found in Europe.

Kuleba emphasized that the fact that the Netherlands has publicly stated its readiness to purchase a Patriot battery is an important point. However, according to the diplomat, it is no less important that Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on the allies not to hide behind the need for NATO standards.

“In fact, when some NATO states say that they cannot transfer a battery because they will not meet Alliance standards in terms of the number of batteries available, and the Secretary General tells them, do not hide behind this, but give what Ukraine needs, because this is the main thing now “This is important,” he added.

Kuleba claims that such intensity of work by partners in providing air defense to Ukraine has never been seen since the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion.

Patriot for Ukraine – details

The European Union could buy Patriot systems from countries that do not want to transfer them to Ukraine. This statement was made by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands and the leading candidate for the post of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

“We know that many countries are sitting with a lot of Patriot systems, perhaps not wanting to provide them directly. We can buy them from them, we can deliver them to Ukraine, we have the money. This is extremely important,” he said.

NATO partners may transfer six more Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

After a European Union summit in Brussels, he said leaders plan to send seven additional Patriot systems as Russia steps up missile and drone attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure and urban centers.

  1. That this is told so openly makes it highly probable that this is a done deal. Great! That’s a huge relief for the Ukrainian people. Better protection against Russian airstrikes means less victims and less tragedy. That makes a tremendous, invaluable difference! 💙💛

  2. I am grateful for the additional air defense, but this leaves me with the question of why they weren’t handed over much sooner. It seems that the West will help rebuild Ukraine sooner or later, and preventing damage now reduces the costs later. Not to mention all the lives that are saved.
So much more is just gathering dust across the continent that could help shorten the war. It’s the same old topic, never-ending and always frustrating.

    • Sadly, true, Mr. Ofp. That after two years of war, Nato still lacks a coordination center that proactively supplues arms andxammunitions that Ukraine will need is disturbing. The current hodgepodge way of reacting to bad news about shortages has already cost too many lives. And it also reduces the deterrence pitential of the organisation – Putin’s obviously unimpressed by this amateurish approach – so this needs to change asap! 🙁

      • I often wonder if they would be so ponderous if they were the ones being attacked. My gut feeling tells me, yes.
