  1. I find it hard to believe that one truck caused two sections of bridge to collapse. There has to be at least 50 metres between those two sections, unless russian building standards helped. The first section seems to have slid off its supported columns altogether.

    • I also think that this is unlikely, but not impossible. The explosion was quite massive, as can be seen in one video, covering a wide area. I just think it’s too much of a coincidence that a train carrying fuel was at the same spot where the road bridge went up. A double whammy? Who knows. Maybe it was good luck on the part of the saboteurs, maybe awesome planning.

      • Whatever caused it, it doesn’t say much for russian security. Someone is going to receive a new arsehole today.

  2. Ukraine Pravda, the only place I found a time of explosion on the bridge, said that the incident happened last night:

“According to information from social media, the first loud blasts that ‘the whole of Kerch could hear’ happened at 20:42.”

Images and videos show the rail cars burning in daylight, so this fire raged the whole night. This means that the railroad section of this line is severely damaged, due to the heat. This bridge now has one road bridge and one railroad remaining, constricting the resupply of Crimea and cockroach forces. And, it’ll hamper anyone trying to evacuate (flee) the peninsula. I am confident that many more ruskies and collaborators in Crimea will now have decided to do so.

    • Not only damage to tracks, the concrete will have been affected by the heat to an unknown degree.

      • From an operational standpoint, the bridge is destroyed. The steel was not fireproofed and exposure to a hot fire ruins it. When I was a County Engineer (I’m a Professional Engineer and Surveyor), that bridge would have been closed until the spans on both the rail and roadways was completely replaced, and probably the span on either side of the destruction. Given there is a war on, I don’t doubt the Rooskies will put on some band aids and use it anyway. They would be foolish to do so, given construction standards in a deeply corrupt country. It was reported that there was at least a 1 billion dollar loss on the bridge due to corruption.

        • Pretty much my thoughts also, the sort of heat generated doesn’t do things like that much good.

I have little doubt the moskali will still use it, hopefully for a really heavy load.
