They will block the skies over an important logistics hub.

Norway will send fifth-generation F-35 multirole fighters and NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to protect the logistics hub in Rzeszow, Poland.

According to Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Aril Gram, 100 Norwegian troops will also be stationed in Rzeszów. They will protect the key hub for transporting civilian and military materials from other countries to Ukraine from the beginning of December:

“The airport is also important for medical evacuations, which Norway is responsible for. We do this primarily for Ukraine and Poland, but it also shows that we are committed to our NATO commitments.”

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz noted on the X microblog that four Norwegian F-35 fighters and their air defense systems will arrive in the country.

Logistics hub in Rzeszow

As is known, the Polish airport Rzeszow-Jasionka is located less than 100 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. It is there that a large amount of equipment that is transferred to the country by Western partners is processed.

Last summer, there were many cases of legionellosis there , and it was reported that the outbreak could have been caused by contamination of the water supply.

In the spring, the Polish Ministry of the Interior announced that it would strengthen security around the airport because it was “confronted with a foreign state that is conducting hostile actions on Polish territory.”
