According to Jean-Noël Barrot, “our security is at stake.”

France has no “red lines” regarding support for Ukraine . This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot in an interview with the BBC .

According to him, Ukraine may use French long-range missiles on Russian territory “in the logic of self-defense.” However, he did not confirm that French weapons had already been used by Kiev.

“The principle was established… Our messages to President Zelensky were well received,” the diplomat noted.

At the same time, he stressed that Western allies should not impose any restrictions on support for Ukraine and should not set “red lines.” At the same time, when asked whether this could mean the participation of French troops in the war, the politician replied that “we do not rule out any option”:

“We will support Ukraine as intensively and as much as necessary. Why? Because our security is at stake. Every time the Russian army advances one square kilometer, the threat comes one square kilometer closer to Europe.”

Barro also hinted at inviting Ukraine to NATO.

“We are open to extending an invitation, and so in our discussions with friends and allies, friends and allies of Ukraine, we are working to bring them closer to our positions,” the politician said.

  1. Unless Ukraine already have these missiles, it’s just another empty statement. Ukraine are still waiting for the French troops that Macron was talking about.
