No more than a hundred enemy boats: Military denies claims of russian assault buildup near Kherson Oblast

The total number of Russian boats in occupied parts of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts, including the Dnipro islands, does not exceed 100, Southern Defense Forces spokesman Col. Vladyslav Voloshyn said, denying reports of an impending Russian assault on the right bank of Kherson Oblast on May 6.

Ukrainian intelligence sees no signs that Russian forces are preparing for an amphibious assault across Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast, despite recent claims suggesting otherwise.

“We see no signs of preparation for an assault,” said Dmytro Voloshyn, a representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence.

“Our intelligence controls literally every single vessel used by the occupiers… Their total number does not exceed a hundred units, including those transferred from Crimea.” Voloshyn emphasized that intelligence has not detected any repositioning of artillery or offensive assets typically required to support such operations.

His comments counter earlier warnings from Yuriy Tkachuk, an officer of the Omega diving unit of the National Guard, who suggested that Russia was preparing a large-scale amphibious operation aimed at capturing positions on the right bank of Dnipro. Tkachuk cited signs including the accumulation of boats, vehicle movements on the Kinburn Spit, and increased shelling of Mykolaiv Oblast.

“The more islands they manage to capture, the more firing positions they will have closer to our rear,” Tkachuk said on Novyny.Live, noting ongoing Russian efforts to land troops on river islands controlled by Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Defense Forces reportedly remain active in the area and have successfully repelled similar Russian attempts in the past. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, stated that Ukrainian forces are well aware of the enemy’s capabilities and are prepared to neutralize any future incursions.

“The enemy’s desire and his capabilities are different things,” Kovalenko noted. “The desire has been there for a long time, but a fool is richer in thought.”

On March 4, Kherson regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin told The Guardian that Russian troops had been instructed to seize at least one village on the right bank before the start of possible peace talks — an objective they have so far failed to achieve. He said Moscow wants to lay claim to the entire Kherson Oblast as part of any future negotiations.

  1. “The total number of Russian boats in occupied parts of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts, including the Dnipro islands, does not exceed 100…”

One or two months ago, the roaches were said to have 300 boats in the region. The AFU did well to cull their numbers.

“The enemy’s desire and his capabilities are different things,” Kovalenko noted. “The desire has been there for a long time, but a fool is richer in thought.”

    Isn’t that the truth.
