The Il-114-300 is one of the most important projects of Russian civil aircraft manufacturing.

The new Il-114-300 airliner , which is to replace Western aircraft on Russian regional routes, was not allowed to fly outside the temperature corridor of -9 to +25 degrees. This follows from the basic certificate issued by Rosaviatsia, writes The Moscow Times.

It was previously reported that the aircraft will be able to fly in severe frosts in the northern regions, in particular in the Arkhangelsk region and Yakutia.

At the same time, according to the certificate, the Il-114-300 cannot currently fly in icing and thunderstorm conditions. The aircraft cannot be operated from wet and polluted airfields.

The document states that it is possible to fly on an airliner up to a latitude of approximately 70 degrees (i.e. no further than the island Arctic zone) and at a maximum altitude of 7,600 m.

All this effectively makes its commercial operation in many regions of the Russian Federation impossible. For comparison, the basic version of the Il-114-100, according to Russian media, was allowed to fly in temperatures from -30 to +45 degrees.

Il-114-300 – information

Russia presents the Il-114-300 as its “newest” aircraft, but this is more of a propaganda piece. In fact, it is a deeply modernized version of the Soviet turboprop Il-114, which first took to the skies on March 29, 1990.

The basic Soviet Il-114 never became a successful project and did not gain widespread use. According to open data, only about 20 such aircraft were produced during the entire period of serial production.

The development of the modification lasted about ten years.

In the modernized version of the Il-114-300, according to information from open sources, for unification with the problematic military transport Il-112V, two TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines and new six-blade propellers were installed, which the Russian side positions as low-noise.

The Russians hope that thanks to the improvements, the aircraft will be in demand not only in Russia itself, but also in other countries, in particular India. The chances of this happening are there, but they are small.

Russian civil aircraft industry: other news

All other critically important Russian civil aircraft projects also face numerous difficulties.

This concerns, in particular, the flagship MS-21, the serial production of which has been postponed again. It is assumed that the serial production of the new MS-21 liner will begin only in 2027.

It was also reported that the Russians have significantly cut plans for the production of the Tu-214 , which, like the MS-21, is intended to replace Boeing and Airbus airliners that are unavailable due to sanctions.

  1. Russian latest airliner is state of the art, no analoque, hydromatic, supersonic and can fly in any weather conditions except thunderstorms, rain, snow, heat and cold and wet runways. In fog is no problem, because it has no radar either………….

  2. In short it can only taxi around the tarmac, if the tarmac is dry…………..enjoy your holidays, scum!
