New details about the explosion at the Moscow restaurant Balzi Rossi: another relative of General Chaika is likely dead

August 8, 2026

Six people from the entourage of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Alexander Chaika, who were at the Moscow restaurant Balzi Rossi during the explosion on August 1 have been identified. Another of his relatives probably also died from their injuries.

Another relative of General Chaika may have died a few days after the explosion

This is reported by the Russian publication Verstka.

Yulia Kirillova, the wife of Danil Kirillov, Chayko’s nephew through his wife’s side, likely died from the effects of the explosion, the publication concluded after examining state databases and open sources.

On the day of the explosion, Telegram channels linked to the security forces published lists of victims, which included “Yulia V., 30 years old.” According to the publication, Kirillova turned 30 in July, and the letter “V” is the first letter of her middle name. It was reported that the girl was hospitalized with “multiple chest and abdominal wounds.”

According to leaks from state registers, Kirillova may have died on August 4, three days after the explosion. She has not logged into her Telegram account since July 31.

Yulia Kirillova was the daughter-in-law of another victim of the explosion, Evdokia Kirillova.

Thus, the identities of six relatives and friends of Chayka who were in the restaurant at the time of the explosion have now been confirmed. Of these, in addition to Yulia Kirillova, the general’s son-in-law Danylo Peredriy and his colleague, Major General Valery Plokhotniuk, were killed. The general’s daughter Maria Peredriy, his niece Evdokia Kirillova, and Chayka’s husband, Oleksandr Peredriy, were injured.

General’s son-in-law: death confirmed by state registers

The death of Chaika’s son-in-law, Danil Peredriya, was confirmed by data from Russian state registers.

This was reported by the Agency.

As reported by the publication “Agency”, an entry appeared in the Unified State Register of Individual Entrepreneurs about the termination of the activities of entrepreneur Daniil Peredry “due to the death of this person.” It is noted that the entry was made on August 1.

Earlier, information about Peredry’s death was confirmed by another state database. It stated that one of his documents was invalidated on the same day.

Earlier, the Russian publication “Verstka” reported that the daughter of Russian general Alexander Chaika, Maria, may have been injured in the explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in central Moscow.

The lists of victims distributed by Telegram channels associated with Russian security forces include 25-year-old Maria P. It is noted that she suffered an open head injury.

Journalists drew attention to the fact that Maria Chaiko is also 25 years old and is mentioned in some databases under the surname Peredroy. According to “Verstka”, the date of birth and address of residence in both cases coincide.

In addition, 27-year-old Danylo P., whom the publication associates with Danylo Peredriey, is mentioned among the victims. Verstka suggests that he may be Maria Chayko’s husband.

The Russian embassy said the terrorist attack was an attempt to intimidate Italians

The Russian Embassy in Italy called the explosion at the Moscow restaurant Balzi Rossi a “terrorist attack carried out by accomplices of terrorists” and accused Ukraine of trying to intimidate the Italian employees of the establishment.

The diplomatic mission claims that the purpose of the attack was allegedly to demonstrate to Italians working in Russia that they could also be under attack.

In addition, Russian diplomats resorted to traditional propaganda rhetoric, comparing representatives of the Ukrainian authorities with members of the terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Qaeda.

The statement also made accusations against those who support Ukraine, including providing it with financial and military assistance.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani responded to these allegations  . He called the Russian embassy’s statement false and suggested that Russia itself may be trying to put pressure on Italian citizens through its support for Ukraine.

“A complete lie. Why would Ukrainians intimidate Italians? Maybe it’s the Russians trying to intimidate Italians, given that we support Ukraine,” Tajani said.

The investigation has opened a case into the terrorist attack

This was reported by Radio Liberty, citing Russian media .

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a case under the article on terrorist acts: according to the investigation, the explosives were hidden in a gift box and activated remotely, and the woman who brought the box may not have known about its contents.

The death toll has risen to five — two victims died in hospital, and more than six remain in serious condition.

According to one of the Telegram channels, the man referred to as the deceased security guard was likely an employee of the Federal Security Service — there is no official confirmation of this.

The investigation at the scene of the explosion has been completed, and the area surrounding the explosion has been cleared. The restaurant said it was ready to help the families of the deceased and injured, and also apologized for a post on social media shortly after the explosion that claimed “everything is fine” – a post that was later deleted.

A closed banquet and the gas version: the first details of the explosion in Balzi Rossi

The first to report the explosion in the restaurant was   the Telegram channel Baza , which was later referenced by a number of Russian propaganda media outlets.

According to sources, a fire broke out in the restaurant after the explosion. Eyewitnesses said that ambulances were rushing to the scene, and roads adjacent to the building were blocked. It is reported that the restaurant was closed for a private event at the time of the explosion, and four employees of the establishment were among the injured.

Later, the Telegram channel ASTRA reported , citing an eyewitness, that at the time of the explosion, many cars with black license plates, usually used by the transport of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and some law enforcement agencies, were parked near the restaurant, and a bus of the Russian National Guard was standing nearby. According to the same data, the general’s birthday was being celebrated in the establishment – this information ASTRA calls unverified. Earlier, the publication also found out that the restaurant was closed on August 1 for a private banquet.

The pro-Russian publication Mash writes that, according to preliminary data, the explosion occurred due to a gas leak – however, local chat rooms question this version, noting that there is no gas supply in the building.

Another Telegram channel, “Kashin”, reported that the probable birthday boy was Colonel General Alexander Chaiko, a former commander of the Russian Eastern Military District, a Hero of Russia, who was previously sanctioned by the British authorities over events in Syria. Troops under his command tortured and executed Ukrainian civilians during the offensive on Kyiv in 2022, and war crimes prosecutors are still investigating whether Chaiko gave direct orders for specific crimes. In early May of this year, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

  1. It’s a shame that the war criminal was not killed, but it’s nice that some of his family members have been eradicated. They all are vile and demonic vermin.

    • We’ll never know if is dead or not. They wouldn’t give Ukraine the satisfaction of knowing his head was blown off.

      • If he’s dead, Ukraine will find out. He was not someone so anonymous as an army private.
