A defence ministry spokesman said the ministry had been “recently” informed “that the ally’s commitment in question was not being met”.

In late June, the Netherlands announced that it would provide Ukraine with the Patriot air defense system along with an unnamed ally, but it has now emerged that this will not happen because that ally has pulled out of the agreement.

Recall that in May, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced its intention to supply Ukraine with the Patriot system, stating that the country had “the main components” ready, and that the missing components would be supplied by another country.

A month later, the Netherlands managed to find another country to cooperate in this donation. “The necessary components for the complete Patriot system have already been assembled.

The Netherlands is providing three launchers and a radar, the remaining necessary main components are being supplied by an ally,” the Dutch Ministry of Defense said in a statement at the time.

However, it has now emerged that the components that the ally was supposed to deliver were not ready. Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said that the Netherlands had recently sent Ukraine a radar and that three launchers would be delivered very soon, NL Times reports .

But the Netherlands is now looking for another ally willing to provide the missing components to complete the system, Brekelmans said. “We are still working on it. Discussions are ongoing with several partners,” he said.

A defence ministry spokesman said the ministry had “recently” been informed “that the previously mentioned commitment by an ally was not being met”, but he did not specify which ally it was.
