Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is unable to effectively protect its member states without the participation of the United States of America. The head of state emphasized that the role of the United States is crucial for NATO’s security.
The president’s position was reported by the Interfax-Ukraine agency, citing his public speech. The publication quotes Zelenskyy’s words, delivered on Friday during the second national Forum of Talented Youth in Kyiv.
According to the president, without America, the Alliance loses its deterrent power.
Talking about the Alliance
Speaking about the results of Davos, Zelensky noted that his speech may not have pleased all leaders, but the situation for Europe remains fundamental. He explained that the issue of attractiveness for the United States directly concerns NATO. The President emphasized that the alliance without the participation of the United States ceases to be a full-fledged Alliance.
” Without the United States of America, this Alliance, let’s not make a diagnosis, but without America it is not NATO. This is a Union, it may be strong, but it is definitely without America,” Zelensky said. He added that such an alliance is not a threat to Russia and, in his opinion, is not even capable of ensuring the protection of its own states.
Army and security in Europe
The President also drew attention to Ukraine’s role in the European security system. According to him, today the Ukrainian army is the strongest in Europe. That is why, as Zelensky noted, Europe must understand the importance of supporting Ukraine now.
He emphasized that in the event of possible aggression or a new threat, the situation will become more complicated if the US continues its policy of isolation.
“And that’s why Europe must understand and protect Ukraine, and support us today, because if there is aggression tomorrow, or if there is a threat tomorrow, and the United States continues its policy of isolation. Apart from Ukraine, there is no one to strengthen Europe,” the president added, speaking about the potential consequences for the continent.
As a reminder, during his speech in Davos, Volodymyr Zelensky called on the European Union to stop the shadow fleet tankers, confiscate Russian oil and sell it, depriving the Kremlin of money for war. Without tougher and more effective sanctions, the flow of Russian petrodollars will not stop, and therefore Europe must act as decisively as the United States.
Also during his visit to Switzerland, he met with US President Donald Trump. At around 2:20 p.m., presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov reported that the meeting had begun and ended less than an hour later, at approximately 3:14 p.m. According to him, at the end of the meeting, the two presidents spoke privately.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the American president later commented on the results of the meeting. According to him, it went “very well.” He also addressed the Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
We saw numerous times how “effective” NATO is as russian attack drones entered NATO airspace and NATO planes and air defense simply WATCHED them land somewhere. Pathetic!
