NATO invited Ukraine, along with other partners, to join the formation of the strategic concept of the Alliance until 2030. The document will determine NATO’s policy for the next decade.

Olga Stefanishyna, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration , announced this after a trip to the Alliance’s headquarters .

In her opinion, during the joint work, Ukraine’s further prospects for joining the North Atlantic Alliance will become clearer.

“Both in Ukraine and in the capitals of the countries of the Alliance, there is an understanding that the common challenges that the democracies face today require a common response. We are grateful for the partners’ participation in the formation of the NATO strategic concept until 2030. It is important to have a common vision. Ukraine’s proposals for the concept , in particular, will be based on the experience of confronting hybrid aggression over the past 7 years. The countries of the Alliance have already said “no” to the aggressor to its ultimatums on NATO expansion. We hope that the new concept will provide strategic clarity regarding Ukraine-NATO relations until 2030. We we would like to see a strong commitment to NATO’s open door policy and strengthening the Alliance’s eastern flank,” Stefanishyna said.

Recall that in January Russia sent its ultimatum to the West on Ukraine’s integration into NATO, which it called “security guarantees.” Moscow is convinced that the Alliance troops in Eastern Europe threaten their national security.

Under the pretext of “protecting the security of the Russian Federation, Russian officials regularly threaten military intervention on the territory of Ukraine.
