According to Klaus Iohannis, this aid is not enough.

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, said that the NATO allies provided Ukraine with only half of the promised aid , writes The Guardian .

“As for the aid that we all provide to Ukraine, I think it’s time to be realistic, we have provided about half of what we promised. And this is not enough. If we want Ukraine to win, we must help more,” he emphasized. .

Also, as Reuters writes , Iohannis noted that the statement of the NATO summit in Washington, which is being prepared, will include the intention to strengthen air defense along the eastern flank of the alliance.

“You will see in tomorrow’s statement … planned measures to strengthen air defense on the eastern flank. This concerns us, as there were … situations when drones fell on our national territory,” the Romanian president emphasized.

In addition, in June, Romania announced that it would transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine, which is part of the supply of five such systems and other strategic air defense assets that NATO countries have promised to provide to Kyiv.

“Our condition is that when we transfer such large systems as “Patriot”, we receive adequate compensation. This is currently being negotiated with the American partner, with NATO. We want to receive another “Patriot” complex in exchange, but not immediately, but in the future. But I believe that we will also be able to get systems that will be delivered faster and related to air defense,” added Iohannis.

  1. So typical of the majority of Nato and European political leaders. All verbal outrage and moral preening followed by little or no action and poor execution of what is decided.
