Natalya Poklonskaya, previously appointed Russian ambassador to Cape Verde, said she would not take office. It is reported by TASS.
“Personal circumstances have changed,” Poklonskaya said, answering the question why she does not plan to go to Cape Verde.
At the same time, Poklonskaya noted that she “wants to be useful to the country.” “Therefore, I am ready for any position where I will be useful to the state,” she said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Poklonskaya would not go to Cape Verde.
President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Poklonskaya ambassador to Cape Verde in October. Poklonskaya herself then stated that she was “happy with the appointment” and was waiting for him.
From 2016 to 2021, Poklonskaya was a State Duma deputy, but refused to run for a new convocation. As RBC wrote , neither United Russia nor the Kremlin wanted this because of the extravagant statements and “not quite systemic behavior” of Poklonskaya. In particular, in 2018 she was the only United Russia MP who voted against raising the retirement age.
