Musk’s department likely leaked classified information about Americans to Russians, media report

Congress has already been notified of the incident, and the FBI may be involved in the case.

The US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), created under Elon Musk , could have leaked confidential information from the databases of American government structures to the Russians, NPR reports .

In particular, such suspicions were shared with journalists by employees of the US National Labor Relations Board. This small government agency deals with abuses in the labor market and, by the nature of its activities, has at its disposal a large array of confidential information that is potentially interesting to the enemies of the United States.

In March, the DOGE department inspected the agency for potential government cost savings. At the same time, employees of Musk’s department demanded to be given the highest level of access to the agency’s database. When Musk’s subordinates were granted access, the agency employees noticed outgoing traffic from their database.

Officials fear that DOGE could have copied sensitive information such as union activity, court case data, and corporate secrets of numerous American companies.

At the same time, members of the DOGE team asked not to record their activities in the system, and then, it seems, tried to cover up their activity by disabling monitoring tools and manually deleting records of their access.

And then the situation became even more suspicious, because the agency’s employees recorded attempts to connect to their database from an IP address in Russia. Moreover, the person who tried to log in used one of the recently created DOGE accounts – with the correct username and password.

An internal investigation has been launched into these facts, but the journalists’ interlocutors say that it is actually time to involve the FBI and other competent authorities in this. Representatives of the US National Labor Relations Board have also already reported the incident to Congress.

Elon Musk sympathizes with Putin

As UNIAN reported, Musk’s father recently admitted in an interview with journalists that their entire family admires Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and considers him an example of a “strong leader.” According to him, Elon is no exception in this regard.

We also reported that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry criticized the social network X, owned by Elon Musk , for concealing information about Russian war crimes.
