Ukrainian users can no longer log in or register on Twitter using their mobile number.

Twitter stopped accepting subscribers of Ukrainian mobile operators. Mask’s social network closed the possibility to verify the account from Ukraine and limited the creation of new ones – it is no longer possible to specify the “+380” number when creating an account.

It is noted that the problem is relevant for both the browser version of Twitter and the mobile application. At the same time, Russian numbers remain in the available list and you can easily log in and register from them.

Among those who drew attention to this restriction was  the team of UNITED24.media – a state media that covers the truth about the war in Ukraine and Russian aggression for the whole world.

“Hello, Elon Musk. It seems that it is no longer possible to use a Ukrainian number for phone number verification/two-factor authentication. Ukraine is not in your list of countries,” the post said.

What could this be related to?

Last Sunday, Elon Musk announced  on his page in the social network that “bots are in for a surprise.” The head of Twitter did not explain what the “surprise” was supposed to be, but after this tweet, the social network blocked the traffic of approximately 30 providers around the world. The countries of the Asia-Pacific region “got” the most.

A little later, the social network quickly unblocked the operators and announced to them that the problems arose due to “routing configuration changes”, but, as we can see, the problem remains relevant for Ukraine.

By the way, earlier Musk already managed to spoil his reputation among the Ukrainian Twitter community – in particular, when he suggested that Ukraine give Crimea to end the war started by Russia.

  1. If Musk has betrayed Ukraine, why would he bother with letting the AFU use his Starlink internet satellites, and for free? For now, I still think that suggestion he offered about surrendering the Crimea, was mostly about getting a quick end to the war. I think given Ukrainian victories, that maybe those skills will take back the whole peninsula, though I would guess that after all this time of russian occupation, they’ve got a strong presence and fortification there.

But I don’t see any reason why suddenly cutting off Ukraine would “help” Musk. If anything, it would cause more damage to his reputation, and the American left hates him for giving free speech to everyone. Not to mention his exposure of the previous Twitter manipulation under the collusion of helping biden get elected.

I trust him. But for now. That might change later.

    • He is not letting them use Starlink for free. He acts like he is but in reality he is charging much more than for regular users. He is taking advantage of the situation because Ukraine has no other choice.

Regarding twitter he is not about free speech. If you say anything negative about him your account gets blocked.

He also sacked much of the team responsible for removing child porn because he obviously cares more about money than protecting children.

He has also said that firing people makes him feel good. What kind of person gets pleasure from hurting other people?

I used to admire him but after reading about all the horrible things he’s done I now understand that he is a very bad person. He’s not even responsible for creating the companies he’s head of, many employees say that he’s like a big child and that they have people managing him so that he doesn’t interfere. He just likes to take the credit for other peoples work. People who he treats like shit.
