Mostly fined: Odessa region in the top for number of convictions for corruption

Odessa region was among the leaders in the number of corruption cases.

Our region is in second place in terms of the number of sentences – 168 of them have been recorded , reports Opendatabot.

Vinnytsia region topped the rating (182), Lviv region was in third place (147), followed by Dnipropetrovsk region (116) and Kyiv region (115).

In total, more than two thousand decisions have been made in Ukraine since the beginning of the year, which is 37% more than in the same period last year. But these data still do not reach the pre-war level – in 2021 there were almost seven thousand.

The most common article is violation of financial control requirements. Officials and deputies do not submit declarations or fill them out with errors: there are almost 1.5 thousand such cases. There are 347 decisions for bribery, only 70 for conflict of interest.

Only 44 defendants received real prison terms — from one to ten years behind bars. The rest got off with fines from UAH 850 to UAH 680,000.

The largest fine was received by a graduate student of the Kyiv Music Academy, who offered to arrange a study place for a foreign student in exchange for a bribe.

    • I’m sure corruption is WAY down when compared to Pre-war times because after Sauron started the war, many orcs ran home to Mordor…
Dumskaya should be careful with this topic because it is a constant topic in the Kremlin. Besides that, cases can go up when searching hard whereas not looking also means not finding, like before.
