Moscow prosecutor’s office threatened protesters with “imprisonment of up to 15 years”

The Moscow prosecutor’s office issued a warning about liability after social networks, according to the department, began to call for participation in uncoordinated public actions in Moscow, as well as to commit “other illegal acts.”

The prosecutor’s office said that “the distribution of such materials” through social networks, forums and other sites, the involvement of adolescents in illegal activities, as well as the organization or participation in illegal actions provides for administrative or criminal punishment, “including in the form of imprisonment for up to 15 years”.

On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a mobilization, after which activists and oppositionists began to call for protests. The Vesna movement called on the people of Russia to take to the streets of their cities on the evening of September 21, at 19:00 local time. Alexei Navalny’s team promised support to those who would protest or “do big things, including setting fire to the draft board.”

In Russian cities, for example, in Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Khabarovsk and Yakutsk, actions against mobilization have already begun .
