The Moscow government has decided to allocate 500 million rubles (about $ 3.5 million) for the development of a new fast food chain, which will replace the suspended McDonald’s restaurants.
This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, according to Russian media.
According to the official, the new network will be able to replace McDonald’s “within six months, a maximum of a year …, especially since the food itself is supplied by 99% of Russian suppliers.”
There are currently about 250 McDonald’s outlets in Moscow. According to Sobyanin, they closed for two months, but the Moscow official wants to start creating a new network now and hire employees in new restaurants who lost their jobs due to foreign companies that ceased operations in Russia.
Earlier, the American corporation McDonald’s announced a decision to temporarily close all its 850 restaurants in Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.
