After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, citizens of the Russian Federation began to flee the country en masse. This is especially true for professionals who no longer see a future in their homeland, isolated from the rest of the world. Only IT specialists left 50 thousand. And another hundred thousand are preparing to leave Russia in April.
Sergey Plugotarenko, head of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications, shared statistics and forecasts. At the meeting “Development of the IT industry under sanctions” in the State Duma, he said: “The first wave – 50-70 thousand people – have already left. The only thing holding back the second wave is that there are expensive tickets, housing has grown, no one is waiting for Russians, and there is no financial connectivity, it is impossible to conduct transactions. But the second wave will definitely be, according to our forecast, from 70 thousand to 100 thousand people will leave in April. These are only IT people.”
