Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev died at the age of 92.

This is reported by Russian media with reference to the Central Clinical Hospital of Moscow.

“Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev died this evening after a severe and prolonged illness,” the hospital said.

    • As I recall, Gorby was never KGB. He had come up through another route and ended up as minster of agriculture before becoming Gen Sec of the CPSU. Minster of Ag is usually a dead end on the Politburo and many were surprised he made it to the top.

      Having said that, I wonder if the serious prolonged illness was induced by Putin’s regime. He had little to say good about Putin at the end, complaining that Putin had destroyed his legacy.

  1. Gorby lived a VERY long life for ruskie standards … about 30 years longer than average. As General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, he was wise enough to see the sign of the times … that the Soviet Union was actually a dead horse, and did the only right thing by dismantling it.
    Who ever thought that a monkey would come along years later, trying to glue the Humpty Dumpty back together?
