Media: Czech Republic found another 700,000 shells for Ukraine

The Czech Republic has found an opportunity to purchase additional ammunition as part of an initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine.

The Wall Street Journal reported on this.

It regards 700,000 large-caliber shells, which can be purchased additionally if the necessary funds are available.

Various suppliers were found in countries outside the European Union and NATO.

Initially, the Czech Republic found an opportunity to purchase 800,000 artillery shells from various suppliers around the world for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces as part of its initiative.

According to the Czech President, the country’s representatives managed to find about 500,000 155mm artillery shells and 300,000 122mm shells abroad.

Subsequently, the Czech Republic announced that it planned to expand the initiative after the purchase of the first 800,000 shells would be funded.

To date, more than 15 countries have committed to finance the purchase of artillery shells. Among them are Belgium, the NetherlandsGermanyLithuaniaFrance, Norway, as well as Canada, Sweden and Portugal.

According to Czech officials, the supply of ammunition to Ukraine could begin within a few weeks.

The Wall Street Journal has learned that the Czech Republic had found suppliers from whom it could purchase additional 700,000 shells for Ukraine, but it all depended on the availability of funds.

Militarnyi also recently reported that, in addition to the Czech ammunition procurement initiative, Ukraine wanted to implement two more such campaigns by the end of the year and was already working with partners to finance them.

  1. The Czech Republic baffles me and the whole world. Will they be able to collect the required funds for all this ammo? Unfortunately, this is a legitimate question.

  2. The cynic in me wonders if they’re making a profit on these deals.

    But the main thing is that Ukraine gets what they so desperately need.

      • The US is losing credibility fast. Will they ever be trusted as an ally again? It’s a hell of a lot easier to lose trust, than to regain it.

        • Exactly. Biden as #1 can do way more. This does not justify the scandalous behavior of the GOP, but illustrates that Biden is no better.

        • As far as I’m concerned, we have sunk very, very low since Biden’s presidency. First, Afghanistan disaster, then our slow-as-molasses-in-the-winter aid to Ukraine, and now the maga morons making us into a giant circus show. We have been made into a country with 350,000,000 clowns.

    • In the end, what matters is that the Ukrainian artillerymen have something to feed their guns with.
