McDonald’s returning to Russia? The corporation has filed trademark applications there

The American corporation McDonald’s did this at the end of 2024.

It became known that back in December 2024, the American corporation McDonald’s filed applications for “trademark registration” with the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent ). And only in April 2025 were they published in the service’s database, the propaganda agency RIA Novosti reports .

Currently, these applications are only at the stage of “formal examination” and “examination of the claimed designations.” However, according to Alina Akinshina, CEO of Online Patent, the chances of registering McDonald’s trademarks are high, since the corporation “has retained the rights to all of its key brands in the Russian Federation.”
