In his opinion, worse things are happening now than in the 1930s.
Former US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler after his dismissal.
“Many of the actions that Putin is taking are very similar to the actions of Hitler. But now we have something even worse than what happened in the 1930s,” he opined .
At the same time, he noted that he considers it correct to send weapons to Kyiv, not money.
Kevin McCarthy’s resignation
On October 3, the House of Representatives fired the Speaker, Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy . This is the first such case in US history. Speaking about voting for the interim US budget, he said that not Ukraine, but his own country and the crisis on the border are his priority .
At the same time, Reuters wrote today that McCarthy’s resignation may signal a change in sentiment regarding assistance to Ukraine. Some of his possible successors are strongly in favor of helping Kiev, but others are strongly against it . The publication notes that there has been no indication yet of who could succeed McCarthy, but the next speaker could cancel additional aid to Ukraine before the proposal reaches the House of Representatives.

Ukraine cannot defeat RuSSia. It’s not rocket science. The aid is a waste of money as long as Zelensky refuses to negotiate. It’s not about what we all desire, but what is feasable. Without a realistic peace plan and negotiations Ukraine may not survive the next eight months. It’s a way to pressure Zelensky, and the pressure will increase. I have not turned to the dark side, but prefer speaking the truth instead of continuing what we have been doing for almost a decade. Crimea is lost and Ukraine’s army is unable to retake it. Ukraine needs to survive, lives need to be saved, a future needs to be designed. Otherwise Ukraine can forget Nato, the EU and peace for decades. Slava Ukrayini!
If Ukraine stops fighting there will be no Ukraine to negotiate over. It will be wiped off the face of the earth, along with millions of Ukrainians. Just how do you negotiate with a bastard that wants to wipe Ukraine off the map?
I was not talking about Ukraine BENDING OVER. I was talking about negotiating a realistic peace, making concessions (Crimea) while demanding concessions from RuSSia (Donbas).
After 10 years, do you really trust russia to uphold any agreement, or concede anything? I don’t and never will.
If a final peace deal would include Nato protection i would definitely approve. The failure of Minsk was based on ZERO consequences for RuSSia in case of violating the agreement, thanks to Merkel’s Steinheimer.
Mike, you’re entitled to your opinion like everyone else. But, what you’re saying goes against the wishes of at least 80% of the Ukrainian people. There cannot be any negotiations with a criminal entity that won’t adhere to them anyway. Now is the time to destroy this shithole. I am confident that we will win.
I was not referring to anyone’s wishes but the (sad) realities.
Getting a “super power” out of one’s territory never requires defeating them. Just ask the Afghans (some forced Russia out and others “peace” with Trump). Just ask the Viet Cong, also. I have full faith in 80% of Ukrainians. United they stand. Divided we fall is our problem, not theirs.
Seems Ruzzia is getting fucked hard right now. AFU is playing the long game in preserving forces and now has Arty advantage, Tank advantage, soon airpower advantage. Winter is coming for Ruzzia this time, not Ukraine. Not sure why the change in strategy needed now. I am not counting on Iran and the hermit Kingdom to save Putler.
Should be just enough Republicans with souls who will keep Ukraine supplied, if not Europe will have to step up. Politics will play out, and we all know that “the bums always lose!”. Only confidence, please.
Slava Ukraini!
