The shutdown of satellite images occurred due to the US government’s ban on providing intelligence data to Ukraine.

The American aerospace company Maxar is restoring the accounts of Ukrainian GEGD users. This was reported by the publication “Military”, citing information from several users of the service.

The program in question is the US government’s Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery (GEGD) program, which provides access to commercial satellite imagery that was designed and collected by the US government.

Ukraine’s access to Maxar satellite images halted – what is known

Recall that the US had previously temporarily suspended Ukrainian accounts in GEGD . The Maxar administration explained that such a decision was made “upon an administrative request.”

It is noted that the shutdown occurred due to the US government’s ban on providing intelligence data to Ukraine. Thus, the administration of US President Donald Trump banned American companies and commercial services from providing satellite data for Ukraine.

At the same time, aviation expert Anatoly Khrapchinsky explained how to act due to the suspension of satellite images for Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine can obtain information thanks to drones and the use of information from open sources, and it is also necessary to cooperate more actively with European countries.
