Massive attack on Kyiv: 4 dead, 26 injured, including SES employees and three medics (updated)

On the night of January 9, Kyiv suffered what is probably one of the most massive attacks. The enemy used drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. Damage and destruction are recorded in various areas of the capital

As Censor.NET reports , this was announced by the city mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko.

Dead and injured

As of 4:40 a.m. on January 9, four people were reported dead. 19 people were injured. 14 of them were hospitalized by doctors. The others were treated on the spot.

“Among the dead is one doctor. Four medical workers were injured,” Klitschko noted.

There is damage to critical infrastructure . In some areas of the city, there are power and water outages. The following were hit: 

  • Darnytskyi;
  • Desnyansky;
  • Dniprovsky;
  • Pechersky.

As of 07:00, damage was recorded in the Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Pecherskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of the city. Multi-storey and private residential buildings, a kindergarten, garage cooperatives, cars and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Darnytskyi district

A UAV crashed in the yard of a residential building in the Darnytsia district.

A one-story shop nearby and the windows of a nine-story residential building located nearby were partially damaged. 

Also, as a result of being hit by UAV debris, a fire broke out in two residential buildings and garages.

Desnianskyi district

In Desnyanskyi district, a fire broke out after a UAV hit the roof of an 18-story residential building. A fire also broke out in a 5-story residential building. Smoke started to fill the entrance of another five-story building.

In addition, in the Desnyanskyi district, the territory of a shopping center and a sanatorium was damaged.

Dniprovskyi district

In the Dnipro district, UAV debris fell on the roof of a one-story non-residential building. Also, as a result of falling UAV debris, a fire broke out in a 16-story and a nine-story residential building.

The blast wave partially destroyed the roof of a three-story residential building.

In addition, in the Dnipro district, debris fell on a playground in the yard of a residential building and near a tram depot.

Pecherskyi district

In the Pechersk district, the facade of a nine-story residential building was partially destroyed by falling UAV debris.

A non-residential multi-story building was also damaged.

“At this time, the death of one person in the Darnytsia district has been confirmed – a 56-year-old doctor, and three people in the Dnipro district – among them a 41-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman, another body will be identified based on the results of the examinations.
