It is not reported whether UMPC control modules will be installed on them.

The Russians began mass production of three-ton FAB-3000 aerial bombs . This was reported to the Russian Ministry of Defense following the results of Minister Sergei Shoigu’s trip to the enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

“Sergei Shoigu was informed that mass production of FAB-3000 has been organized at the enterprise since February of this year,” the Russian department said in a statement.

The FAB-3000 itself is an unguided bomb, which was developed back in the USSR. It is unknown whether it will be equipped with a new control module.

According to Russian data, only the Tu-22M3 long-range bomber can officially use the FAB-3000, but this aircraft cannot use bombs with UMPC. One of the main carriers of ammunition with this module is the Su-34 front-line bomber, but it, in turn, is not officially a carrier of the FAB-3000.

Perhaps later the Su-34 and Tu-22M3 will undergo appropriate modernization. Formally, there are few obstacles to this, because the maximum combat load of the Su-34 reaches 12 thousand kilograms with a combat radius of 1000 kilometers.

Bombs with UMPC – what is known

The Universal Flight Planning and Correction Module (UMPC) is an attachable module that converts conventional unguided bombs (in particular, FAB-250 and FAB-500 M-62) into glider bombs – precision-guided munitions with an increased range.

Recently, the Russians have begun to actively use super-powerful one and a half ton bombs FAB-1500M54 , equipped with planning modules. Therefore, experts are increasingly talking about the need for new fighters that could shoot down their carriers.

It was also reported that Russian UMPCs received new antennas that can effectively suppress electronic warfare systems, which is why the expert warned about the threat .

“And again, bad news from the enemy. For the first time, a new type of CRPA antenna “Kometa” with a new 8-beam antenna system was found in the wreckage of the UMPC,” said Sergei Beskrestnov, a specialist and consultant in the field of military radio technologies.
