More than half of Ukrainians believe that Volodymyr Zelenskyy should serve only one term as president and should not run for a second term in the next election.
Source: a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) on 12-21 September
Quote: “Now 53% believe he should be limited to one current term (up from 46% in December 2025). Meanwhile, 42% believe he should participate in the next election (down from 45%). The remaining 5% were undecided.”

Details: KIIS notes that there is a clear correlation between the level of trust in the president and support for him running in the election.
“If among those who completely trust the president, 85% support his participation in the elections, then this indicator decreases to 53% among those who rather trust and to, respectively, 20% and 7% among those who rather or completely do not trust,” the sociologists said.

For reference: The survey was conducted on 12-21 September. A total of 1,002 respondents aged 18 and over living in all regions of Ukraine under Ukrainian government control were interviewed by telephone based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. The sample did not include residents of territories temporarily outside the Ukrainian government’s control (although some respondents were internally displaced persons who had moved from occupied territories). The survey also did not include Ukrainian citizens who left the country after 24 February 2022.
Under normal circumstances, the statistical margin of error for a sample of this size (with a 95% confidence level and a design effect of 1.3) would not exceed 4.1% for figures close to 50%, 3.5% for figures close to 25%, 2.5% for figures close to 10% and 1.8% for figures close to 5%.
In wartime conditions, there is a certain systematic deviation in addition to the formal margin of error mentioned above. However, the sociologists believe that the results remain highly representative and allow for a fairly reliable analysis of public opinion.
