Valery Plokhotnyuk’s funeral took place on August 5 at the Troyekurovsky Cemetery in Moscow.
According to Russian sources, Plokhotniuk received the rank of Major General in 2021. At that time, he held the position of Chief of Staff of the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation. Earlier, in 2011, he was appointed head of the operational group of Russian troops in the unrecognized Transnistria.
