The latest public opinion polls in France have shown an increase in the ratings of the country’s current president, Emmanuel Macron. In March, the number of French people who approve of the head of state’s actions increased by 7%: one in three citizens of the country now supports Macron.
The French president’s rise in popularity is due to his insistence on increasing support for Ukraine amid US betrayal and his advocacy of the need to increase defense spending in Europe, according to a March 6-7 Ifop poll for Ouest-France, published by Bloomberg.
“According to an Ifop poll for Ouest-France, Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating has risen to its highest level since June as the French president pushes for European efforts to support Ukraine. His popularity rose to 31% in March, up seven points from the previous month and almost at the level before last year’s snap parliamentary elections. In contrast, Prime Minister François Bayrou’s approval rating fell five points to 34%,” the publication says.
Macron’s rise in popularity and approval ratings comes as the French president has placed himself at the center of European efforts to increase defense spending and support Ukraine amid the U.S. withdrawal from the alliance. In particular, the French leader has proposed talks on using the country’s nuclear weapons potential to protect allies on the continent.
“The poll also showed that 53% of respondents are concerned about international affairs related to Ukraine, and 84% believe that peace cannot be achieved without the participation of the country affected by the war,” Bloomberg quotes the survey results.
Macron’s approval rating has increased the most among older voters and white-collar workers (white-collar workers, office workers, civil servants, managers, and engineering and technical personnel), who are his strongest supporters. Among these groups, Macron’s approval rating has increased by double digits.
Recall, on March 5, the day US President Donald Trump addressed Congress, Macron delivered an address to the French nation.
In his address, he noted that “Russia is a threat to France and Europe” and proposed using French nuclear weapons to defend the EU, and also announced a decision to increase weapons production in Europe .
At the same time, Macron emphasized that a peace treaty cannot mean Ukraine’s surrender and recalled Moscow’s violation of the Minsk agreements , which is eloquent evidence that Russia cannot be trusted because it does not adhere to its commitments.

This is a good, positive trend, and I’m sure this gives a boost to Macron’s psych in his endeavor to do the right thing for Ukraine.
The trumputler “peace plan” will be little more than a total surrender. When Zel and all Ukrainians reject it as they must, trumpkov will expedite his pre-planned total disengagement from Ukraine.
But it’s even worse than that : for Ukraine, America is already a hostile power. Some form of military intervention on putler’s side can no longer be ruled out.
Ukraine will have to rely on themselves and for the previously feckless Europe to become a serious military power in next to no time. I would not like to have to rely on them for support if I was Ukraine.
I fully agree!
Now, maybe Trump will get the message but I doubt it.
Trump doesn’t give a shit. Unless you’re kissing the ass of this narcissistic moron you’ll never listen to anything.
Trump’s intellect isn’t strong enough to get how toilet paper is used. He thinks it’s the longest napkin there is.
