Lukoil Oil Transit Ban: Szijjarto Finds Unexpected Culprits

Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Brussels could be behind the ban on the transit of oil from Russian Lukoil .

On his Facebook page, he wrote that more than a week had passed since Hungary and Slovakia appealed to the European Commission to “take action against Ukraine,” and no action had been taken.

“Despite the threat to the energy security of two EU member states, despite the blatant violation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, Brussels remains silent,” Szijjártó wrote.

According to the Hungarian minister, there are two explanations for this behavior. The first is that the European Commission is unable to defend the fundamental interests of two member countries against a candidate country, and the second is that the “oil embargo” was invented by Brussels itself.

“It was the European Commission, not the Ukrainian government, that wanted to blackmail two countries that advocate peace and refuse to hand over weapons. The European Commission and President Ursula von der Leyen personally must immediately tell the truth: did Brussels ask Kyiv to ban oil supplies?” he was indignant.
